Every year in Cazères, there are a few days of big celebration which include a flower parade through town. The event is called ‘Fête des fleurs’ in French. Participants, both adults and children, build floats according to the theme of their choice and decorate them with carnation flowers. On the day of the flower parade, they all march proudly through town, showing to the public their decorated floats, in the company of parade dancers and orchestra players.
Cazères is the closest city to Mondavezan, the village I live in, and this is where I do most of my errands. I haven’t taken the time to photograph this city yet. It is often like this, it is more difficult to see something special in the place where our habits and routine are. Well, now I had the chance to witness this beautiful event. I happily went along the decorated floats and took many pictures of the flower parade. And one day I’ll take the time to walk in Cazères like it’s the first time, I’ll see it with new eyes and photograph its beauty.
